PROFESSIONAL OBJECTIVE A Professional job that will challenge me to use and
expand my extensive experience and technical skills in the areas of facilities
maintenance, architecture and construction in educational facilities. PROFESSIONAL
EXPERIENCE Have worked over 25 years in Higher Education in the
areas of facilities administration, architecture, planning, and construction,
as Director of Facilities, Director of Capital Improvements and University
Architect. REPRESENTATIVE
EXPERIENCE Planning and managing the preparation of the Master Plan for
the Institution. Serving
as a liaison between Institution administration and consultants. Developing a preliminary Space Management data base to support the
Master Planning effort. Assisting administrators and trustees with assessing,
planning, and organizing capital construction, remodeling and maintenance
priorities for the college.
Identifying, recommending and/or selecting and implementing delivery
methods for the design and construction of capital projects. Developing criteria, policies, requests for
proposals, selection process, etc., for professional services such as
architectural, engineering, construction management and capital program
management services for the institutions. Providing extensive plan review and coordination for new
building projects prepared by outside architects and/or engineers. Representing the institutions, negotiating and managing the
capital improvement program (over 100M).
Working with large construction firms such as Beers-Skanka, Brasfield
and Gorrie, Winter Construction; medium and small companies, and also directly
with large and small sub-contracting companies. Developing and managing annual maintenance budgets. Developing and managing, in conjunction with
program managers, overall capital improvements and individual building project
budgets. Representing the college and serving as a liaison with city
officials including Development, Engineering, Historic
Commission, Fire Marshall and Building Inspection departments. Directing overall facilities and plant management, including
construction, maintenance, and architectural engineering services. Managing the professional and craft staff of
the department. Determining, implementing, and managing construction, and
maintenance project budgets. Managing the design and construction documents for
renovations to University spaces. Developing and implementing maintenance contracts for
building systems. Developing design standards and procedures for
building construction, including architectural, mechanical, and electrical
systems. Assisting
IT departments with implementation of design standards and construction for
