We have effectively utilized the portal and our student’s “myuwg” accounts to post announcements and deadlines.

We have improved on our web-based short-term loan application process.

We continue to cross-train SFS staff.

General Statement of Department Condition (required)

Student Financial Services is in good condition.  With the limited return of a regular staff member who has been out on medical leave, we are beginning to get back in our normal routine.  The other staff members have taken on additional tasks and we have utilized our student workers to help with the shift in responsibilities.

Departmental Achievements

We continue to update our SFS website and improve on the delivery of announcements and deadlines utilizing the portal and “myuwg” accounts.  We continue to serve on the RACAR committee and assist in development of GA Best Practices for Banner Accounts Receivable.  We were able to keep SFS running smoothly with a regular member of our Staff out on medical leave.

Staff Productivity

Several staff members served on various committees and attended a number of workshops.  Committees served on included RACAR, Strategic Enrollment Committee, and Dr. Stone’s committee.  Meetings or workshops attended included, Georgia Summit for Banner Users, Banner Accounts Receivable meetings, NACUBO Student Financial Services conference, and SACUBO conference.  Short-Term Loan collections increased by 1% and SFS staff processed 852 short-term loan applications.  We maintain a Perkins Loan portfolio of 4,552 of which 1,292 are active.  Perkins collections increased by 3% and we processed a total of 191 new Perkins Loans for FY 06.  Student Accounts receivable collections increased by 1% from last year.

Student Achievements

Our student worker was named Student Worker of the Year this year.  Taniesha Snell has been our student worker since her Freshman year and graduated this May.
